I bought a Meaco dehumidifier in January of 2010 and ran it about twice a week for an hour or two at a time. After 2 months of this light use it stopped working - the heating element failed.
It was repaired under warranty. (Like another reviewer, I was given a 10 hour time slot for delivery and the courier turned up the next day.) This was in April and I didn't use the machine again until this winter.
After 2 months light usage the heating element has failed again!
On phoning Meaco I was informed that, although I had only used it for 4 months light use in total, as it was out of warranty, I would have to pay £70 to have it fixed.
When I asked what was the expected life of these dehumidifiers, I was told by the general manager "at least 5 years if not considerably longer". The company's owner stated that it should last "several years" and that I had "just been incredibly unlucky".
I inferred from these statements that they both must surely consider then that they had sold me a faulty machine. But on asking them about this they have completely broken off communication.
Like the above reviewer, I notice that my review of the product is suspiciously absent from Meaco.com
I notice the only 1 star reviews they allow are those which suggest buying an alternative from Meaco!
Rather than pay them to repair this crap again, I notice a British company called Ebac making dehumidifiers in the UK with a free 5 year warranty. I shall not reward Meaco's dishonesty and failure but put my £70 towards a replacement from a company that believes in its products.
Meaco – substandard products with appalling contempt
Washing machines break as soon as 2 year warranty finishes then they pass you on to a bunch of thieves called Domestic & General Services to rip you off with shoddy repairs and unreliable mechanics.
I was encouraged by Indesit to take out a warranty with Domestic & General to insure my repair on my washing machine. The repair man was supposed to turn up the next day but didn't. A week later my machine is not fixed and then I receive the paperwork saying that my year's cover of the repair has started a week ago.
I point out that the repair that is to be covered has not taken place but can not get this into anyone's head at D&G. I ask to cancel the the warranty but am told that I will have to pay a call out fee if I do and that debt collectors will be sent should I refuse to pay.
These people are money grabbing thieves, are unreliable and cannot be trusted. Avoid!
After 8 telephone calls to the company without promised return calls, I finally called their supplier to find out that Heat & Plumb.com had not put through my order until several days after placing it.
Heat & Plumb.com tried to blame the problem on their supplier and told me that there was nothing they could do. They offered to refund my money but I had a builder awaiting the rads in order to carry on with his work. If I treated my customers this way I'd be unemployed, as these numpties should. Outrageous incompetence and indifference!
I eventually contacted their supplier directly and got them to deliver to me the next day! Why Heat&Plumb could not do this is beyond me.
