Best search engine on the net
Google is simply the best search engine on the net. Searches are quick, information that is selected is relivant, it just works!
It also provides more specific searches such as google scholar, which is great for academic research.
It also kept fresh by the dialy changing banner.
Halfords
OK for modern standard car, but rubbish customer service
Halfords is a bit like a supermarket. They have a good range of standard items for standard modern cars. If that what your after their great. However, ranges for older cars or modified cars are often lacking. Well unless it’s a horrid stick in item for a corsa!
The one good redeeming point is their basic professional tool range, i.e spanners , sockets etc. These are usually a good price, and of good quality, with lifetime guarantees.
The biggest let down of Halfords however is the staff. Now don’t get me wrong, some, usually the older staff do know there stuff, but most of the young kids that work there haven’t got a clue, and have no idea about customer service. You asking them a question is seen as an inconvenience to them.
Knowledge about products is also terrible. Ask for a part which isn’t standard to the car its being fitted to and more often than not your meet with a blank expression. The best I have had yet is on asking one young lad about what the difference was between dot 4 and dot 4+ brake fluid, I was informed, ‘one keeps your engine cooler!’ Its brake fluid!!
Machine Mart Ltd
Reasonable quality tools at a good price
Machinemart has long been a provider of reasonable quality tools at a good price. There quality of the tools in there proffesional range is good enough to be used in a working garage rahter than high price big named brands.
Only thing that could be improved is the frequency of VAT free days. I often wait to get larger items on such, and often have to wait a while to get, or look for cheaper supliers.
Frost Auto Restoration Techniques
Great products and company, just expensive!!
I have used frost for ages, and have always been impressed with the quality and ranges of products which they pull together. My hobby is restoring classic cars, and the specialist paints and tools they provide are really good.
However, my only criticism of Frost is the cost of their products! Many are expensive, and in some cases can be got from other places at the same quality, but at much cheaper prices. Perhaps if they sent out less catalogues, they could reduce their prices. Sort it out Frost’s!
