I want to give a good review for someone for a change, so I think it should be Next. I have been a customer for quite a few years now. Because I am virtually house-bound their delivery service has always been reliable. I'm on first name terms with the delivery lady now.
Their telephone advisors have always been faultlessly polite and quick to respond to any problems. The other big plus for me is that I have the luxury of trying things on at home and if they don't fit or I don't like them I just call the courier and they come back and pick them up. Also because they are on the store card I am not having to pay up front/pay for returns and then have to try and get a refund. I just pay the amount owing in full when I get my statement. I consider that having a store account is a small price to pay for not having to claim money back if something has to be returned because it is not suitable. I don't consider the delivery charge to be unfair either really. If I had to get someone to drive into the nearest town, pay for parking, have the inevitable cup of coffee etc. it's probably comparable.
I would say though, that unless I am desperate for something I always wait for their sales and I wouldn't buy anything from their white goods/toys, or furniture departments unless they are in the sales because I know I can find them much much cheaper elsewhere.
I ordered a next day delivery. I know it got to the couriers from Boots that day (16th Dec). Boots use Yodel. Please read the reviews on Yodel before contemplating placing an online order through Boots. My parcel has still not turned up despite Boots contacting Yodel several times on my behalf. I'm not holding my breath on receiving it. I will be contacting Boots asking why they are using such a useless courier service. I have been a long-standing customer of Boots online but usually have their instore pick-up. I will not be ordering from them again until they change their courier. In future I will return to using their pick-up from store service. I hope someone in authority at Boots reads this and acts on it. I can't be the only one who has suffered from non-delivery.
First item I ordered was apparently damaged and unfit for sending.
They found the item from another supplier but they had made an error and did not actually have the specific pair I wanted.
I was repeatedly asked to find a different pair even though I had said I didn't want a different design. The 4th e-mail from them simply said 'choose replacement'. It took 4 e-mails requesting a refund before anything happened. Will not use again especially as I lost the cost of the overseas transaction.
Still waiting for my parcel paid for as Next Day delivery on 16th Dec. Now 20th December still no parcel. Waited on phone for 20 minutes several times before being cut off. No replies to e-mails. When I contacted Boots, the advisor said that on their system the parcel has been shown as out for delivery. They managed to contact Yodel who promised someone would be contacting me. Codswallop. Yodel have admitted it's gone nowhere. They have probably lost it. I Will be making final contact with Boots to ask them why they are using such a dreadful courier service. Obviously not going to get parcel and will have to go through whole process of getting a refund. YODEL YOU ARE USELESS.
