I ordered a Stokke highchair from this site and found it to be very good value for money. My only quibble is that the delivery was made in two parts, which I hadn't been informed about, so it meant that I thought bits were missing and spent time phoning customer service when this could have been avoided. Had I not been on maternity leave, I might also have been a bit annoyed at having to stay in for 2 deliveries, but as it was, this didn't cause any problems. The value would have made up for the inconvenience, but it would have been nice to have had the option to have everything delivered at once.
I've bought my shopping from Ocado every week for the last few years. They're generally reliable, offer a good range of products and highlight savings clearly both on their site and their iPhone app. I do most of my shopping via the app as I find it faster and love the fact that it stores payment details so you can order quickly. Their website is very frustrating and does not load very quickly, nominates things as favourites with no obvious logic (which I have tried to amend numerous time to be more useful without much success) and isn't as helpful as it could be. Drivers are always polite. Were it not for the fact that service standards seem to have been slipping over the last year or so (missed items, late deliveries, etc.) I would have given this a 5. Good customer service over the phone and no quibbles about refunds for missing items, which makes up for a lot.
Good variety of restaurants available on the site, with some new entries that I can't find on any of their competitors' websites. Nothing special about the website as a whole. They do offer some form of customer service (which I haven't tried), but they take no responsibility for actually getting the food out to you. Can't see the functionality to store favourites, card details, etc., which would be good for repeat orders. Worth a visit though.
I always like buying from John Lewis as they're customer service in-store is generally excellent. I love the fact that you can stored your card details for repeat ordering with a minimum of hassle. The range online is pretty good and the site draws your attention to seasonal discounts you might not necessarily see in store. My only pet peeve is the length of time it takes to get good delivered when you choose the free standard delivery. They usually do use every last one of the 5-7 working days they allow themselves, which is a pretty long time for delivery these days (even when it's free). Having said that, it's worth the wait to buy from a trusted source, as refunds or getting replacements for faulty goods are normally fairly timely.
I've been buying from Amazon for years, both through their online site and through the iPhone app. They really do make everything as effortless as possible and generally offer good value for money when compared with other online sites, apart from when it comes to ebooks for the Kindle. I'm an Amazon Prime member so I almost always get my orders the next day - there's only been one hiccup so far. Had to return a breast pump which had stopped working and they replaced it within 2 days and also collected the old one, with a minimum of fuss (only online forms to fill in and the bother of posting the old pump back). This is now a trusted site for me.
Unexpectedly good value from Comet in their sale this year. Bought a washer dryer on Friday and had it delivered on Sunday. Only found a 10 quid difference between the cheapest site on the web and the Comet price, so went with Comet as it's more of a known quantity. Free delivery charge, although roughly 30 quid for removing the old washer dryer and installing the new one. Made everything low hassle and the machine is working well.
Ordered a washer dryer for my tenants for delivery in 2 days, as I didn't want them to spend Christmas without one. Order cancelled the afternoon before delivery was due, due to failure of an automated security check despite the site having sent me a receipt to tell me payment had been taken. Company unable to explain why security check was failed, citing data protection reasons (which shouldn't pose a problem, given it's my data). I've never failed a check before, so no idea why this might be - different delivery address to billing address maybe (?). No help offered, so tenants will spend Christmas without a machine. Not a position I'd like to leave anyone in.
