I have been a regular customer at Maplin for a long time. I found the store in Orpington really good. Recently moved to Camberley and had to use the Farnborough store. I cant say the same about this store. People arent very helpful. They dont seem to know the products they sell and the store manager seems to have an ego of his own.
Where has all the good "maplin customer service" gone? I wonder if Maplin does have an "ABC course in customer service". The Farnboro, Hampshire store could certainly do with a bit of that.
If I had another option of a reasonably speedy internet in my area, I would stay well away from Virgin. Their installation staff are terrible. It took me hours on the phone to just get someone to come back and complete the installation of the service. Their call center for installations was terrible. I had to spend hours on the phone and then try getting the right person. The TV person passes you onto the phone person and then the broadband people and then the installation team and had to repeat my story to every one of them. I didnt get the all-singing all-dancing TiVo box.
Their standard box is not good. The quality of the TV picture is just about OK after having to explain the the install staff that I was not ready to expect Channel 5 and a few other channels with a snowy, almost un-viewable picture.
Their more recent call center staff are a bit better. I would say that they have probably made some improvements in this area of their business still not very great. I suppose it is a bit of pot-luck with getting a good person on the other end.
I do hope they improve their service. I have got another 14 months on my contract.
