Poor customer service at Kensington branch.
Maplin sold a defective digital satellite receiver box in October 2011. Their technical helpline team advised the item could be exchanged in store. St. Paul's branch agreed to exchange approximately a week before Christmas for a different manufacturer, and advised to get the exchange done in another branch as they had no stock.
Staff at Kensington branch unhelpful. They offered to return the defective box to manufacturer for investigation despite their technical helpline team's advice and the St. Paul's branch's agreement to exchange. A member of staff showed remarkable lack of common sense when he remarked that he did not know understand the error message and at the same time, failed to appreciate the situation - a customer has purchased a clearly defective product, the customer clearly would like to exchange the defective product, and offering to send the defective product to the manufacturer for investigation is not addressing the immediate problem (ie. Maplin has sold a defective product to an unhappy customer and they should offer a constructive solution, eg. exchange, to resolve the complaint).
Would not recommend Maplin for purchase of any electronic goods other than low value products eg. batteries.
