I have been working with a Depot in the East Midlands for quite a while; I am also a driver.
All of you making negative comments, have you ever done any parcel delivery work and come across the problems from customers? Such as leave with neighbour or on the front porch, even though a signature is actually required and it is an addresse only parcel? Have you not thought that some people who may at the time be on your property for a specifc parcel assume the identity of the person whose parcel it is meant for? That is why we have signatures taken in case we need to report matters to the police for investigation, which I myself has done on 2 occasions. That is not my couriers mistake, they cannot ask for ID from everyone they go to. Many other delivery companies also have problems not just us. I have worked for Royal Mail and DHL who have also had missing parcels and damaged parcels, it happens; we try our best to resolve these.
I receive reports every morning stating the performance of all the depots in the UK, the East Midlands is always on 85-98% successful deliveries. I look after and manage 60 couriers and some of these take upto 120 parcels out a day. I chase parcels for customers when I either get emails or telephone calls or pick parcels up from couriers and deliver them myself if they are needed urgently.
Parcels can travel miles before they reach depots and service centres, have you not thought that parcels can get tampered with en route to these places?
I have had deliveries in my driving career where postcodes are not recognised in Satnav's; that is not our problem. My couriers try every possible means to locate addresses, if not they report it to me and I find the correct address.
Not all Yodel depots are disappointments! I have committed drivers and couriers who all work to deliver. My people always have 100% communication with our depot and are looked after!
