Argos

Faultless Customer Care

Use Argos regularly, because it's good value, has great choice & is local to me...& am always satisfied.
I feel I have to give a special mention the fantastic customer service I recently recieved: I bought a sewing machine, which I was not happy with - it started to go wrong almost immediately after I started to use it. I was a little concerned because by the time I took it back to the store, I'd already had it 36 days - & feared they may just offer to repair it rather than replace it. No need for such worries...I was greeted by a smiling customer care lady, who apologised immediately that I was not happy with my purchase - & as it was faulty, offered me an immediate refund or replacement. You really can't argue with that attitude at all.
Sometimes items are faulty - that's a fact of life...when that happened with my sewing machine, I was glad I'd bought it from a shop where customer service is such a high priority. Thank you Argos :-)

Amazon

I trust Amazon to get it right...

I have used Amazon many times, for all sorts / values of purchases: & never been disappointed.
I often find electrical items are cheaper on Amazon than other 'auction' sites - & you know that if there is any problem Amazon will protect your rights. The customer reviews of products on there are extremely helpful & the selection of goods available is fantastic.
Everything I have ordered has been delivered promptly & safely.

Had worse, but I'd pay a bit more & fly with someone else.

Flown Thomas Cook twice - & won't fly with them again unless there is no alternative.
October 2009 we flew back from Turkey with TC...in comparison to our outward journey (which was was Thompson & had been very comfortable) this was a huge disappointment.Plane was old, cramped & no legroom...the food was awful & the legroom even worse.
Our 2nd time with TC: flight from Manchester to Crete September 2011 was cancelled due to faulty plane. This is worrying in itself, as there stock seems to be pretty old...but we were waiting in the departures lounge for over an hour AFTER the plane was due to leave before we received any information from the TC staff there. That simply is not acceptable: at the very least we should have been told there was going to be a delay, even if at that time it was not known by how long!
When they did locate a replacement plane, it was smaller than the original - meaning 80 passengers were told they could not board at that time, but would follow on a later plane - & again, not given any indication when that might be.
On board, the seats were uncomfortable & cramped - legroon was so bad that my partner (5ft 11)had to sit at a funny angle & got deadlegs - & I (5ft 5) got bruises on my knees from the seeatback in front of me digging into my legs. Food was the smallest portions I have ever been served on a plane - & wasn't cheap in the first place...tho staff were friendly & pleasant.
One point to note: when we got to our hotel (5 hours late), we were informed that this happens fairly regularly with TC flights from the UK...so our experience may not have been a fluke!

Yodel

Rubbish...

Can only rate this delivery company on my own experience as customer who was meant to receive a delivery from them - I didn't choose to use them, they were the courier chosen by TribalUK for delivery of our items.
We were informed delivery could be anytime up to 9pm on day of delivery & as such arranged to be in ALL DAY...item was never delivered. Tracking initially showed it as being 'delivered' at 17:30 (tho this status did not appear until 19:30) - & then early next day the tracking status showed 'Returned to Depot'.
We spoke to TribalUK who could not answer why delivery had not been made - & they assumed 'the driver must've run out of time' !!!
We emailed Yodel, getting a reply 3 days later that did not actually answer our concerns at all - just telling us to phone customer service to rearrange delivery. POOR...
Eventually, TribalUK managed to get hold of someone at Yodel, to be informed that they could not now locate the parcel!
We cancelled our order & went with someone else who did NOT use Yodel as their delivery service. In future, I will actively avoid internet suppliers who use Yodel to deliver...

Travel Republic

Never need a high street travel agent again!

I have used Travel Republic for so many short-haul holidays now (Europe) that I have lost count: I have successfully booked holidays for us as a couple, aswell as family groups of up to 10 people...all without any significant hitch or complaint.
The website is easy to navigate; the information provided is clear & complete; there is a great choice of flights & accomodation, allowing you to easily choose the combination that best suits your needs; and the prices are always very competitive.
The accomodation reviews are usually helpful - though I always back these up with checking for other reviews around the web too.
Special Requests submitted when booking accomodation is always passed onto the hotel, which isn't always the case with internet bookings.
I haven't rated 5 stars for the following 2 reasons only:
Firstly, it would be good is the actual airline was shown when you are given the flight choices...there are certain ailines that I would not willingly travel with again, no matter how cheap - & it isn't always clear early in the booking process who the flight is with.
Secondly: the resort transfers offered can sometimes be booked more cheaply if you go directly to the transfer companies in your destination...but for sheer convenience, booking everything together in one place is worth the small amount of extra.
For a one-stop holiday-shop - I don't think you can beat Travel Republic.

Virgin Atlantic

Economy Class doesn't feel like the 'cheap seats'

I love Virgin...& they are always my 1st port of call these days when booking flights, if they fly to my particular destination.
Having flown many times longhaul...I appreciate that Virgin's economy section is amongst the most spacious & comfortable; the food & drink is of a great standard; service is always with a smile & the stewards are attentive - even if we are in the 'cheap seats'!
Online booking is easy...& you can prebook your seats online at no extra cost. Information provided is simple & clear.
In my experience, flights are generally at convenient times - & rarely delayed...& in flight entertainment usually more than sufficient to keep me entertained for the whole jourmey.

CHEAP, RELIABLE & FAST...thank you!

No hesitation in recommending Electrical123.com...our experience was that they are cheap, reliable & fast.
Originally ordered Humax HD PVR from a different internet supplier & it failed to arrived because their courier (Yodel) didn't make the delivery when promised & then lost it. We cancelled & then ordered from Electrical123 - wish we'd gone there 1st...ordered Monday pm; offered a choice of delivery dates including the following day, which we chose; we were given a tracking number with their courier (City Link), & received delivery before lunchtime Tue :-).
