Waitrose is quite expensive but the shopping experience is far better than average. Product quality is high and freshness is excellent. I particularly like the range of specialist products that are not readily available in other supermarkets. And they actually train teh staff on fush and butchery counters! Good range of breads too.
Relatively weak range of goods. However, I purchased a screen in December '11 that was defective. I returned it yesterday and a refund was handled instantly and with no fuss (unlike the opposite experience I had at Maplins). This gives me confidence to buy from PC World again.
I have avoided Tesco for a while but tried them again in early January.
The large Guildford store is gloomy. My main issue with Tesco's is that fruit and veg haev a short shelf life and deteriorate very fast: quality is substandard compared with Sainsbury's and Waitrose yet prices are no cheaper than Sainsbury's on the whole.
Staff on the fish counter were clueless.
I purchased It equipment in Guildford on 23/12/11. Two items were faulty and were returned on 15/1/12. Immature young man calling himself "store manager" but signing as "key holder" refused to refund saying "I would lose my job". He invoked Maplins T&C's in clear contravention of Sale of Goods Act.
Today I obtained a refund via a London store but Maplin's have now lost me as a customer forever.
