Having used shopify for 3 months I must say it cost a great deal more than advertised to get a full featured ecommerce shop going. Lots of stuff you get with other platforms were 'premium bolt ons and the nicer templates were all at a premium too.
In the end my ongoing costs were more than if I had just paid someone to customise some open source like Magento, so that's what I've now done.
29$ per month (that's what they advertise at) is nowhere near what you'll end up paying if you want your website to have fairly standard features.
3 months wasted.
I’ve been with ekm for a while now, and have to admit that mixed reviews got me thinking if I made the right decision. Seemed to be more bad than good so I took a punt on them.
12 months on and I’ve been astonished that first of all a novice like me can actually put together an ecommerce site that actually looks the part!! I demoed a few other systems which were as cheap as powers shop and the result was awful, you get what you pay for was my gut feeling.
The odd time I’ve needed help I got through to a real person and they were very helpful, straight forward and straight talking (no jargon!!!).
As things pick up we will see how we go with ekm, seems people do outgrow them from what I can fathom, but so far so good for me!
