I wanted to evaluate a bike before purchase and called Doble to book a weekend hire a month ahead of time. Booking confirmed, details explained.
Two days before the pick-up day, I called to confirm everything was in order and was told that the only person dealing with it was off that day, but was assured that there shouldn't be any problems.
I phoned the next day (a day before the rental starts) and was told the same person had left early for the day.
Finally, called on the morning of the day to ask when it's suitable to pick up the bike, got to speak to The Rental Man and he flatly told me he didn't have that bike. I asked why he didn't call me before the day and his response was that he spoke to 50 people a week. I pressed by saying that he had my booking and he said there was nothing he could do at that point anyway.
A very flat "sorry for that" and that was it.
The amazing thing is that I have bought a bike from them before and they still didn't think it was worth putting in an ounce of effort.
Incredibly poor service.
We started using HH about three months ago. I specifically like the review database "aging out" reviews older than 6 months. This ensures that declining quality take-aways don't continue benefiting from previous success.
We've used both desktop-based web browser and mobile-based apps ordering and both work very well.
There is nothing to take away from the service. Perhaps more work could go into UI of the mobile app, but that will come over time.
