We joined a bus at Victoria Station and it set off round Hyde Park, into the West End etc. and we did hop-on, hop-off at various points to Buckingham Palace. However, when getting on again at BP the bus went to Victoria Station first, not to Knightsbridge-Kensington as the map implied - to see the Knightsbridge-Kensington section and get back to Victoria would have meant taking the whole tour again, for which we had no time. God knows what happens to foreign guests who don't know where they are. Bus frequency seemed to vary greatly, despite low traffic levels, with some buses being overful , followed by an almost-empty one. The foreign-language earphones were too big to fit in our ears and had to be held in place. Some of the sockets in the seatbacks were also u/s - take your own MP3 earphones with you! The route was generally good, and Bigbus can't be blamed for the icy cold snow and wind, which forced everyone to the lower deck later in the day.
I ordered some bathroom locks and handles, which were very reasonably priced. and good quality They were promptly despatched by Parcelforce Express 24. Parcelforce claimed they atempted to deliver the next day but in fact came nowhere near our property (we assume they couldn't bother to go off the main road). Advised e-Hardware who contacted Parcelforce HQ and a special delivery was made the following day.
The battery was ordered for a Dicon smoke alarm which nominally had a 10-year battery in it (US brand) but which failed after only 4 years. The Battery Force JCB lithium battery was ordered in the morning and we received notice of despatch within a couple of hours. It arrived First Class post the next morning, very well packed. Excellent.
