Baggage was lost at Gatwick airport. They said they would send it and unfortunately chose City Link to deliver. City Link has a policy whereby they only allow two chances for delivery and then you either have to fetch it from their depot or it gets returned to sender after 5 days. We weren't notified about the first delivery and they left a card, so I was expecting it today and was home. The doorbell rang and I jumped up to get my dressing gown (it was 8.30 and I wasn't dressed) which I thought was downstairs so ran downstairs, it wasn't there, ran upstairs again, grabbed it and put it on while running down the stairs again - it's a small house. I can't imagine this could possibly have taken more than a minute, but let's say at the absolute maximum 2 minutes. When I opened the door the driver was already back in the van and was pulling out the driveway. I ran out to wave him down but he didn't see me and drove off fast. I couldn't believe it. I phoned them up immediately and the woman I spoke to said that if he was in the area he could come back, but no one came. I phoned up and they said since delivery was attempted twice they would not deliver the bag and it would be returned to sender. When I objected and said that the driver hardly waited for me to come to the door, the man I spoke to said that the driver must have been there at least 3 mins because that's how long it takes to get a GPS signal and take a picture of the front door to prove they were there. Well that is impossible unless he waited to get the signal before ringing the doorbell. And no card left either, so if for some reason I wasn't there I would not even have known that a second delivery was attempted. I am fuming!
Updated the next day: my bag was delivered the next day at 8.15am. I nearly fell down the stairs to get to the door fast. And for the record I timed the route I took the day before very generously i.e. not running like a madwoman like I did the day before and taking time to look around for my dressing gown and it still only took
1 min 7 sec, so there is no way it took me more than a tad over 1 min to get to the door yesterday.
Simple order process with next day delivery - including a text from Royal Mail (at 7am!) saying they had received the parcel, which was then delivered at 7.50am. Can't comment on the shoes as they were bought for someone else, but all looks fine.
Update 9/7/2013: have ordered from Shoetique a few times now. Simple order process and parcel always arrives the next day with no problems.
I can't really fault my experience with BathEmpire. I bought a new shower head. I received a confirmation email of my order and another email the next day to say my order had been dispatched with a number to track it. My order arrived the day after that. It was well packed to minimise the chances of being damaged and it matched my expectations.
