Mothercare

Outstanding service with a smile

Buying everything you need when you are first time parent can be quite daunting however Mothercare helped make the whole process a real joy! The staff in store (Ipswich and Lakeside) were always on hand for advice and guidance to help us choose the right products for us and our baby. We have bought everything from Mothercare, travel system, travel cot, clothes, sterilizer you name it and all products are high quality and extremely competitive on price. When the items we wanted were not in stock we were given a lead time of max. 10 days for delivery yet on all 3 separate occasions our goods arrived within at least 3 days! One minor glitch though with the musical mobile for our travel cot which played out of tune when it arrived. Not a problem for the Mothercare customer service rep who phoned me back and then promptly without quibble organized for a new one to be sent to us direct from the manufacturer. I honestly cannot heap enough praise on Mothercare and its staff for the quality service and goods they offer with a smile. Thankyou!

What customer service?

I recently ordered a new tumble dryer online through the website no problem. As soon as the payment went through I received another email saying my order was being prepared for disptach. All looking good.

After hearing nothing for 2 weeks I phoned Currys to find out when I could expect delivery as the previous email had stated the order was being prepared. The CS agent informed me that the item was out of stock and stated that the delivery into their Warehouse was due within 3-4 days at which point my goods would be dispatched. Ok slightly annoying but I can live with that.

Another week on and still no tumble dryer so I phoned Currys again. This time the CS agent told me that they were not expecting any stock until 11th April 2012. Over a month since my original order and payment were made. Not satisfied with this I emailed their customer services expressing politely my dissatisfaction at not being informed when I ordered the item was out of stock and would take over a month to come in.

To add insult to injury I received an automated response email saying somebody would get back to me within 48hrs. Which they did with what can only be described as a patronizing, don't really give a damn response. They also then informed me they were expecting the item to be in stock on the 13th April 2012.

I responded to this email and received yet another email saying somebody would contact me in 48hrs. Which they did to basically say I have 2 options. Cancel the order or wait for delivery. They also apparently cannot give me confirmation of an exact date when they will receive the item at their warehouse or let me know the outcome of their internal review which they assure me has been escalated.

I appreciate a wait for a delivery of an item such as a tumble dryer. However I do not accept being informed my item is being prepared for dispatch when infact it is not. Waiting over 4 weeks for something when they stated 2-4 weeks delivery window and I certainly do not appreciate being patronized and fobbed off with like or lump it.

A shining beacon of a company that values its customers and really knows its operation!
