After spending some time looking for a planer/thicknesser for our workshop, we decided to purchase from Tool-Net based on very competitive price. We had not used these guys before but decided to give them the benefit.
This is a heavy item at 24 kilos and delivery was well within the stated schedule. We weren't quite ready to fire it up immediately so it languished in the box for nearly a week, when it was taken to the workshop, given a once over and switched on. We put a piece of 2x2 pine across the top just to assess the cut quality and switched off, turned the piece and switched on again when the thing let out a squeal and we hit the emergency stop.
On inspection it was apparent that the blades had not been tightened and had slipped out catching the shavings guide in front of the spindle and removing it from the slots on either side of the case. I was unable to replace it and so decided to email the warranty address at Tool-Net.
I could never have expected what happened next, for less than an hour later (on Friday afternoon)I had been contacted by Tool-Net and Clarke International wanting to assist in the return of the planer. We repacked it in a huge box and it was duly collected by courier on Monday. (Poor girl! the box was nearly as big as her!)
We are looking forward to our replacement machine being delivered any time soon.
No hassle and no expense spared. There are a lot of companies who should take a copy of the customer service policy for Tool-Net, I think they would get a lot more repeat business. Meantime, We are going to do a lot more business with Tool-Net ourselves. You will take a lot of time finding a company as good as these guys. Thanks Tool-Net.
Could not find the correct type of dust bag for my saw so i phone up and let one of the staff kindly do it for me and got it all sorted in 5 mins or so. easy people to deal with and vary good at there job and that is hard to find now days.
