I booked a flight from Malta to Amsterdam which on the Airmalta website would have cost around 340 euro, booking through ebookers I got the flights for 222 euro. I was so shocked about the discrepancy that I called Airmalta to confirm that the flight went through, and it was. Really chuffed.
I've used the site before, what is an advantage compared to skyscanner is that the bookings are direct with the airline and not through a secondary travel agency/site, which can sometimes be misleading on price (e.g. flights London to Manila with Cathay Pacific showing up as costing £600 through the dodgey travel site, actually costing £850 when you try to book with a reputable site).
I bought two pairs of glasses, and placed the order on September 8th. I was immediately sent an email asking me to confirm my prescription which I did immediately, however a response was not forthcoming after having sent two emails over the space of a week. The call centre was never available and I began to suspect a scam. I eventually got through to a CSR who assured me that the prescription was correct, the order was filled and the glasses were dispatched shortly after.
When they arrived, the prescription was incorrect. I corresponded with the CSR again and he was extremely helpful in ensuring that I was able to return the glasses to be checked and they refunded me the cost of P&P and eventually, after almost a month of having placed the order, the glasses finally arrived. The overall experience was painful, and unfortunately, the lack of availability until after a problem had arisen was a sticking point, even though they rectified the problem very quickly.
The cost in very reasonable, but because of problems like these, it becomes problematic to manage the online purchase of such products. Even since you cannot see how the glasses fit your expectations on style and quality may not be achieved.
If I need a cheap pair to run around with that I don't mind thrashing, I'll happily buy again, but if I need glasses urgent or am looking for a decent pair, I'll go to the shop and try them on and spend a bit more to know what I'm getting.
