Whenever I have deliveries from DPD they arrive on time, their driver is always courteous and their tracking is second to none. If the company shipping to you has your email address you will get an email confirming DPD will be delivering, they give a 1 hour time window which I have never known them miss.
Other couriers could learn a LOT from DPD.
Rather than use City Link for guaranteed delivery why not try strapping your package to the back of a tortoise and release it. There is every chance it will do a better job at getting the parcel to its destination on time.
I frequenly order from Amazon and as a prime customer choose next day delivery whenever available. The only problem is that I have no control over which courier Amazon will ship with.
If they send with DPD, HDNL, Interlink or virtually any courier other than City Link then I know my package will arrive the next day. When I see 'dispatched via CityLink' I know I have almost zero chance of seeing the item for a few days.
At my last address the driver used to claim he tried to deliver and often they said they left a card even when they didn't. I work from home and am here all the time.
Since moving they don't even bother pretending they tried to deliver. The tracking doesn't update and the item usually takes between 2 and 6 days to get here. Often I have to chase it with Amazon and get them to put a trace on the package to get it delivered.
But its not just with Amazon that City Link are useless. Pretty much anything that comes to me by City Link arrives late, damaged or not at all.
They are the worst courier I have ever come across. They often blame stuff on "agency drivers" and if that was really true then I can only assume that all the drivers in my area are heavy handed agency staff who don't understand what guaranteed delivery is.
I would give them zero stars if that were possible.
Avoid at all costs.
