I hope never to have dealings with DPD again. They try to be clever with e-mail notifications, on-line tracking and even providing the drivers name. In fact they are useless. The week before last I received an e-mail. My delivery was going to be on a Friday. Then another e-mail, now on Thursday. Waited in both days. The package arrived 18.00 on Friday. Misfortune two. A large parcel was meant to be delivered on behalf of Richer Sounds on Monday. Waited in. Nothing. Tuesday, in all morning. Car in drive, windows open, dog in hallway. A 'sorry we missed you' card in the letter box. They made no attempt to ring or knock. There is no one I can contact at DPD, so I am cancelling my order with Richer Sounds. A big disappointment. In future I will not place an order with anyone that uses this outfit.
The service provided by Chemist Direct is first class. I cannot remember the last order not delivered the next day.
I have to say though that I am looking for a new supplier. I buy animal feed from Chemist Direct and it makes sense to buy in bulk. Presumably due to changes made by Parcel Force, it is now cheaper, but still more costly overall to buy items individually.
Overall then, excellent service, but delivery is getting expensive.
Hurst's used to be the best hardware shop I'd been to anywhere. Regrettably, service in the stores themselves has become so poor I no longer use them.
On this occasion I was after a couple of kitchen appliances and had seen a Hurst advertisement in a local paper. I looked on line and found the items to be cheaper than anywhere else. Delivery was free but slow. Hurst's own delivery service on the day was like the service used to be in the shops, efficient, happy and polite.
I would use the on-line service again, but it will take a major improvement in staff attitudes before I use the shops again.
Glasses Direct had a very good deal on and I bought two pairs of reading glasses. Given the quality of the frames, I would not have paid more as they seemed no better than off-the-shelf varieties found in pharmacies. The cases they came in though were excellent, the best I have seen. Overall a good service, but I would not have been happy paying the full price for each pair of glasses.
