Then the pens arrive in a bulging envelope in no time, and there is the excitement of trying them all out, seeing the interesting colours (if that's what turns you on), comparing them and so on. Then it is lovely to have a drawerful of shiny new pens, so that there is always a selection of colours available when you get the urge to write.
My favourite everyday pen for a long time has been Uniball Jetstream, as the ink dries instantly - if you are left-handed this can be an issue, as it can smudge otherwise - and doesn't run when splashed by rain or kitchen worktop splashes. And the ink flows so smoothly as you write. Sadly it no longer comes in interesting colours, so I also buy lots of Pilot G2 07 Gel Ink Rollerball Pens in lovely colours. This is also an excellent pen; very comfortable to write with.
