I was out when they tried to deliver my item. When I called they said they could re-deliver and leave it in my 'blue bin' if I was going to be at work but if I wanted this, I had to pin a note on my front door to tell the driver to put it in there!! Ludicrous. Talk about an open invite to whoever is passing to go fish out my parcel from my blue bin!! So,I didn't go for this option. Instead I went on-line and chose to have it re-delivered this coming Saturday but today I get an email from the company I ordered my goods from-my parcel has been returned to them and I will have to pay postage again to have it re-delivered!! I wish there was a'minus' star to rate this service as it is less than poor.
My check-in was really smooth and efficient and I was pleased with my room. there was a comfy sofa to watch TV from and I could control the room temperature. The bed was a comfy good sized double with a choice of pillows. I was a little disappointed there was no bath-I was staying the night before an early flight and had looked forward to a relaxing bath but this may have been my oversight when I booked. I went to eat in the restaurant which was quite soulless as there was no visible evidence food was on offer and eventually I realised I had to order at the bar. The menu did not offer anything I particularly fancied so I chose salad and chips. The salad was awful. It had clearly been emptied from a bag into a dish without any washing. It tasted stale and a bit dirty and was very dry (except a few slices of raw onion and two small tomatoes) and very bitter. I asked for some olive oil but was told they didn't have any! So, I am guessing that none of the menu items are cooked from fresh. The chips were, well, just chips, which I couldn't finish just on their own. I told the Manager I didn't enjoy the salad - he was very nice about it and gave me a refund for the salad. Next morning, I was disappointed with breakfast as I anticipated a similar breakfast to Premier Inn (the hotels are very similar in price and in this instance next door to each other) a good range of cooked general breakfast items including bacon, tomatoes, hash browns and mushrooms. But it was pan baked scrambled eggs, beans and meat sausage (alongside cereals and fruit and bread) served again in the unwelcoming restaurant area. So next time I am likely to book a Premier Inn stay if I use the hotel before a flight again.
