Having been on the receiving end in the past of the dire delivery methods of Yodel, I try to avoid where possible. If this means, having placed an order with a company I see subsequently via email they use Yodel, I will simply cancel the order. Sadly this time the company despatching my goods failed to send me notification so I wasn't able to do just that.
Previously I have been subjected to parcels not turning up at all for no good reason only to be located weeks later lying in some dingy corner of their Gatwick sorting office. A refusal to re-deliver my package to my place of work instead of home (which was 2 miles away) as it was in a different county (I live on the border of East/West Sussex not the border of a different country) and finally seemingly not being able to locate my doorbell/knocker and leaving a card even though I was at home all day.
This week this wretched company have taken five days to deliver a package to me from Gatwick. The weather has been bad of course but I can assure Yodel that here all the main roads have been free of snow and, amazingly, <external links removed> are able to locate my house and drive around in the snow with their usual ease.
The tracking system on their website showed a rather bizarre series of updates including Thursday saying somebody had signed for the package only for it to mysteriously turn up on the van the next day for re-delivery. Last night, apparently, Yodel tried to deliver the package at 9pm (I was in the house as was my husband) only to go away and leave a card through the door. What door? Not my door. Having bitterly complained to the company who had sent out my beauty goodies the Yodel man turns up this morning, we say a polite 'hello' but he neither looked at us or spoke, merely shoved the package at us and stalked back up the drive.
Really, if you have any way of finding out beforehand how your package will be delivered from a company, then do so. If it's with Yodel then don't bother.
As a quick comparison over what we paid for three items of furniture to other stores, we got an absolute bargain. Beautifully made items which are solid and heavy and very well constructed. Also arrived within five weeks of ordering and delivery men who phoned beforehand and arrived on time. We will definitely be ordering a dining room table. We had so much trouble trying to order furniture through another well-known firm for three months - they could certainly take note of the superb customer service offered here and quality of products
