The staff all know exactly what they're talking about. Their drivers aren't necessarily big sales and maximising profits. At least from my point of view they certainly aren't. I recently bought a guitar, and having been prepared to spend up to £1400 I ended up walking out the shop with a guitar I'd been scouring the country for, playing Martins and Gibsons along the way that just didn't sing to me, and spent £700! I've spent a lot of money over the years in Soundslive and the reason I keep going back is probably because the staff seem connected to the gear they're selling, the website is good and other retailers in this sector in Newcastle have completely missed that online trick, something they're all now desperately trying to catch up on.
