Ordered a helmet from Winstanley's. The delivery was fast, but when I opened the box I had to discover that the item was wrongly labelled and they had sent the wrong helmet.
I phoned them and was told about their return/exchange process which I followed and returned the helmet by first class recorded delivery. I never received a confirmation form Winstanleys that they had actually received the item. This was last Thursday. However, I did mention on the returns form that I am going on holiday the following weekend and that I need the helmet before then. So essentially asking them to hurry the exchange process.
This Tuesday I received an email from Winstanleys telling me that the helmet I orginally ordered wasn't in stock until the following week. So, I phoned them again and changed the helmet to a different colour which was in stock and was assured by the lady I spoke to that I will have the item by Friday. Only to receive an email today (Thursday) stating that the helmet will be posted today by Royal Mail first class!
So, I phoned them again, as generally, unless an item has been sent next day delivery I will not receive the helmet before the weekend. The lady I spoke to was trying to be helpful, but wasn't really. She told me that they only send by Royal Mail first class and wouldn't post to an alternative adress (the one I am going on holiday to, within the UK) for security reasons... whatever they are?!
I have given two stars because everyone I spoke to had been friendly and trying to be helpful and I am still hoping that I will receive the helmet by Saturday morning... though the chances of that are quite slim.
Is ok if you quickly need to transfer money, but way too expensive for anything else, especially in connection with Ebay.
Their strict policies on bank accounts and payment methods can get you into some mess when you are not careful and can make the service totally useless in some cases.
Confusing layout of the website doesn't help things much either.
Obviously, considering the terrain in which PayPal operates their service is open to a lot of illicit abuse and that needs to be save-guarded in some way. However, I do think they are over-doing it a bit.
Website easy to navigate and great for putting a last minute line when you can't make it to the shops anymore.
You are automatically informed of any wins, via email.
Adding money to your account is very easy as well once you have set up your payment details.
Great for finding the best price for sending your parcels. Most delivery companies pick your parcel up from your home address, so no trudging down to the nearest post office or staples.
Prices are very competitive and most of the time, especially for more bulky items and certainly a lot cheaper than the Royal Mail. Also most vendors deliver within 48 hours which again is much better than anything the Royal Mail has to offer.
Undoubteably the biggest product range in the UK, but can be a bit hit and miss. Lots of misrepresented goods, though I presume Ebay is working on this. There are still bargains to be had on Ebay, but generally prices are average and sometimes way over-priced when compared to other online retailers.
Also, with the plethora of charges on Ebay now it makes it hardly worth it for private sellers to sell their goods online, unless you make selling on Ebay a full-time job (but then you wouldn't be a private seller anymore).
Overall, good if you are looking for something special, but you need to be careful what you spend your money on.
Excellent range of products and good prices. Sometimes delivery times are a bit long even when paying for a faster delivery.
Some seller products are not very well described, but the buyer reviews usually make up for this.
Overall good online retailer where you can find almost anything.
The product range at Chemical is brilliant and so are the prices. I have ordered from them several times and even returns/exchanges are dealt with fast and efficiently.
The products are always as described and expertly packaged and posted. Highly recommended online retailer.
