UPS

Much better than Yodel

[This is a review of UPS in the UK]

Recently I sold some equipment on eBay. To begin with I used Yodel as they were the cheapest, but when one package took 11 days to get to its destination (on their 48 hour service) and another took 4 days, I decided to try UPS.

Using their 48 hour service all four packages have arrived within the deadline, with 3 of them being delivered the day after they were picked up from me.

I'd have given 5 stars, except for the driver who seemed to be glued to his seat while I carried the packages out to him in the pouring rain. I even had to pass them through the driver's window (with some difficulty) as he wouldn't get out of the cab!

Yodel

I wish I'd read these reviews before using Yodel!!

I've been selling some items on eBay recently and decided to use Yodel because they were cheap. What a mistake.

Out of 5 packages, one has gone missing and one they have failed to pick up.

The missing one was recorded as leaving my local depot 6 days ago and there is nothing on the tracking history since then. As I booked through Interparcel they are looking into it but apparently can't get any info from Yodel.

Yesterday they were due to pick up another parcel but after waiting in all day I checked the tracking and found that they were "unable to collect - no access to property"! When I spoke to the local depot they said they had no idea what that meant. I asked why the driver hadn't phoned me and was told they are not supplied with phones!!

I now have to wait in today, which is very inconvenient to say the least, and with no guarantee that he will make an effort to collect. On top of which my customer is also getting frustrated by the delay.

I realise that every company makes the occasional mistake, but this service is just appalling.

I have taken a vow never to use Yodel again!!!

UPDATE 9th July: The missing package has now been tracked to their Depot in Droitwich. This means that it travelled an average of less than 15 miles per day since it left my local depot in Llanelli (South Wales).

Someone earlier said that a tramp on a bike could do a better job, and in this case they are spot on! I'm dreading how long it will take to complete delivery, as it's less than one third along its journey.
