Beware. I would not shop here again and would not recommend. They charged my credit card and cancelled the order without telling me. We know if a company is good when things go wrong. It is very easy to be good when things go well and this company is not up to standard. Well, to be brief, i ordered a washing machine on 26th march 2012 and paid with my credit card, but one that is issued abroad. My mother wanted to give us a gift for our new house. The delivery was arranged for the 3rd April so a couple of days after the move. On the day they were supposed to deliver, i thought it was odd that i had not received confirmation of the delivery slot so i rang them only to find out that the order had been cancelled and nobody told me. The chap on the payments dept said the order had been cancelled and i was free to shop around for another washing machine. They cancelled my order because they needed an authorisation code from Visa in the country the card had been issued and nobody thought of letting me know before the delivery date. They claim they tried to contact me on my landline on the day i was moving house, but did not leave a message, did not send me an email or rang my mobile. So i followed their advice and shopped around. I found the same washing machine for less with Appliancesonline, paid with the same credit card with no problem and will be having a next day delivery. So surely Coopelectricals could have done the same. I rang them this morning only to find that Coop electrical had also charged my card for the appliance even though they had cancelled the order and did not tell me when i rang on the first place!!!!!!!!!!! They should have informed me that my delivery had been cancelled not my order, these are two different things. I will definitely be ringing trading standards and the FSA, surely there is something wrong when you make a purchase online, your card is charged and your order is cancelled (not by you) so you are left without goods and a bill to pay first because no one knows when your refund will come through.
I placed an order for £52.99 on 6th May to realize there was something wrong with it on the next day because it was not shipped as promised. I was not contacted and kept monitoring the website for the next 3 days. So Special kept selling the item I had ordered even though they were out of stock. There was not a mention on website about product being out of stock even though they knew it. Their telephone number does not work, it is never available. I finally had an email replied on the 10th May telling me my product was out of stock asking me if I wished to cancel my order which I did straight away, by email and through their website. I still have not seen my refund even though they promise to refund you within 7 working days. I have been asking for this refund for the past 16 days, they email me saying they are processing it but the money does not show up on my credit card. I have been shopping online for many years and this has been the worst experience I had by far. They are selling products they know are out of stock without telling customers, getting their money and then hanging on to it for as long as they can without any good reason. RUN A MILE!!!!!
I can confirm that after a lot of chasing up I did get my refund on the 26th May but that was after they sent me several emails saying my refund was being processed when it was clearly not! Do not give up on them. Ring consumer direct and follow it up until you get your money or goods. What they are doing is not right.
