Envirofone

Poor communications, late payment

Initially I was impressed with the price offered by Envirofone, and sent in my handset. It was received next working day and then started to get a bit concerned. Special delivery should have been there pre-noon, no email till nearly 6pm on the 6th to say receieved, despite phone receive processed at 14:30 (so why not mail me then?) - concerning when effectively £200 in post. Email stated payment by 9th, call them on 9th, no payment, they say it's now the 10th for payment. Why 5 days for paypal payment and why did the email have the wrong date in it? Unacceptable delay, still not paid yet, and poor comms throughout.

This has never been communicated to me until now, more bad comms.

Special Delivery arrives pre 2pm. We receive 000's of
phones a day and can take a couple of hours for us to
process and test the phones. We aim to have everything
done within 24 hrs.
The site shows as tested at 14:39 (when I checked after email), but then took 3 hours to send email to notify me of this.

When the system was updated to show the payment would be 10th, not 9th as email stated (presumably because of pre-mentioned Paypal problems) I should have been notified.

We understand that sending a £200 phone is concerning, which is why we offer free special delivery to customers sending phones in excess of £150 (we are the only recyclers to do this!)

Outstanding service

As someone who orders a lot of items from online retailers, I've more than my fair share of experience with courier companies and their service, or often lack of it. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from DPD on the date of collection from supplier with two simple buttons, one to track the item and one to re-schedule if the default delivery day was not acceptable to me. On the day of delivery I got an SMS first thing on the morning advising of a 1 hour time slot for delivery (none of this waiting blind all day like other companies!) and again offering a simple SMS reply service to reschedule if needed. 6 minutes into the advised delivery slot, the package arrived and was delivered by a friendly and professional driver. Could not be happier with the service, definitely recommend DPD and will be using them whenever I have anything to send or are given the choice to use them when receiving!
