Dreams

Dreams........A NIGHTMARE!!

My wife and I bought a king size bed from Dreams a few years ago and were satisfied with the entire experience. When we wanted a four foot bed for the spare room we went back to them. We ordered a two drawer divan with memory mattress and a headboard. Total cost £1300.00
The bed was delivered on time (in June 2012) but the delivery man were unable to fit the headboard as the struts were too narrow to fit over the retaining screws. They stated I would have to have a 4' 6" headboard as those struts would fit. I protested that the headboard would then stick out 3" either side but they said it would not matter and that was the only way to resolve the matter. They got on the phone and ordered a replacement headboard.
About a week later on 16/06/2012 a delivery driver knocked my door and handed me a 4' 6" headboard over the threshold and left.
I could see through the plastic without opening it that the struts were too wide to fit a four foot bed but did try just in case. Of course it did not fit so I took the headboard back to my local Dreams shop which thankfully is just a few miles away. They apologised and I said I wished the cost of the headboard (£159.00) refunded to my Lloyds/TSB Debit Card.
I was astounded when the manager, Mr Robert Hughes, stated they were not geared up to make this type of refund and that it would have to be done via 'Head Office'
From 16/6/2012 to the present date 31/07/2012 I have tried to get my £159.00 refunded. I keep getting fobbed off with excuse after excuse that the Finance Dept have now credited my card with the money, only for me to check my account to find this is not the case.
Additionally, the new bed partially collapsed on the first day of use. Part of the framework under the divan drawer became detached, jamming the drawer shut. Dreams have agreed to supply me with a new bed. As expected I have received no confirmation of this and doubt I ever will.
My next move is to spend £35 of my own money to obtain a County Court Summons against Dreams to recover my £159 (plus my £35).
I shall let readers know how I get along!!
Dreams gets one star due to my previous good experience.
UPDATE:
I took out a County Court Summons against Dreams and served it at company HQ by recorded delivery. Surprise, surprise the money owed to me suddenly appears in my account.
NOW: How long will it take for the damaged divan to be replaced!! Keep watching folks.....
