we used this loop tours as a way to get around the city quickly and easily. The tour guides we encountered were so informative and told us things we would never of known if walking around by ourselves. The fact that the buses ran every 20 minutes was great as you knew you wouldn't be wasting your day waiting around. and the fact you could hop on and off as much as you liked was great.
We had no intention of visiting Madam Tussauds , however as we got free tickets we went, and had a ball... I wouldn't of paid to get in there but we spent a few hours laughing and taking photos, so I would say its a nice little perk to the ticket.
the only negative which I can find, is that we purchased a 24 hour loop tour, upon reading the map, which I received upon my purchase of tickets, realised that for $11 more per person we could of got a 48 hour pass, with the river cruise. once I found someone aprox 20 minutes later, I asked if I could upgrade my tickets and I had brought the wrong ones, and was told that I couldn't. therefore if I wanted another 24 hours, I would have to buy another ticket of $41 per person. On speaking to my hotel reception about this and explaining I wasn't happy, they put me in touch with George who was the manager of the Big Bus tours in Washington D.C who made a visit to my hotel to rectify this issue for me so I could have the 48 hour pass... Im, so impressed how he dealt with it and I expressed that there should be an option to upgrade at anytime whilst your ticket is valid. They would of lost $11 per person as we wanted to upgrade, and I wouldn't of paid $41 which they wanted for a new ticket, so just make sure you know what your buying before you do. hopefully the issue with upgrading will happen sooner rather than later and I think staff should upsell these 48 hour passes when people want to buy a 24 hour pass as im sure people will pay the $11 extra to get the river cruise just in itself! would highly recommended though. so much better than the ones in New York, where all staff expected a tip and you could hardly understand any of the guides on these tours. Thanks Big Bus tours for helping us see the great sights of Washington D.C
