I had been recommended Lenses for Hire by another photographer and she told me that they were reliable and better priced than some of the big name companies. As I was keen to have use of a better wide angle lens than my own old Tamron for a trip to Finland, I got a quote from LFH. As the price was affordable, I went ahead and booked it. The lens arrived exactly when they said it would, it was in excellent condition and was well packaged with a sensible foam rubber lined box that would be easy to re-pack when I would be returning the lens. The lens came with protective filter, a blessing as none of my own filters are the 82 mm this lens required, and of course caps for both ends and a leather pouch. They even included a special posting bag and return label so that repackaging at the end of the hire was simple.
I can't fault their service in any way, and I am very likely to hire from them again if I need a lens that will not be used often enough to justify an outright purchase.
I happened to pick this company as they came at the top of a list of best exchange rates, and offered free next day delivery for ordering £300 worth of euro (many online deals require you to order £500 or more for free delivery). The website was a bit slow and I had to go round the loop twice before I had successfully registered a new account and placed my order, but thereafter everything was fine, and having ordered at midday yesterday, the cash arrived at 10.15 this morning. My slightly troubled experience of registering an account and getting the order placed must have been spotted, as I received a phone call mid-afternoon to check that I had managed what I wanted. Not many companies do that!
I would certainly use them again - not only are they cheaper than my bank, they are quicker.
A failed freezer that was beyond repair suddenly made replacement urgent. Researched what was available both in local stores and online, suitability, price and rapid delivery all being essential. Appliances Online had an ideal model in stock and claimed that I could have delivery next day, despite the fact that by now it was the evening. So I placed my order at 7 pm, and the website still claimed delivery next day between 7 am & 7 pm. I was a bit sceptical at first, but the excellent tracking insisted that it was on schedule. The next morning at 7 am I got a text message saying that it would be arriving between 7 am & 11 am, and by the time I got downstairs for breakfast and opened the web page, it now said the delivery window was 7.45 - 8.45 am. Sure enough, at 8.45 it arrived and the very skilful delivery men managed to negotiate it around several corners and doorways into the utility room. Couldn't ask for better service and their prices are competitive too. I rarely need to buy large appliances (the old freezer was 17 y.o.!) but when I next need to, these folk will be top of my list.
