I have been asked to review the hotel I had booked through Alpha Rooms, which only adds insult to injury as it was 'overbooked' the day before I was due to stay.
I had been staying in Symi with my mother and needed a room for 1 night in Rhodes prior to flying back to the UK. Having previously worked in Rhodes, I decided to stay in Afandou to visit friends and knowing how large a village it is, carefully selected a hotel near to the centre, due to my mothers' walking problems. I booked this in June. The day before we were due to leave Symi, luckily, I checked my e-mails which was a miracle in itself being on a small remote Greek island, and found an email from Alpha Rooms, advising me of an overbooking, with the new hotel being a very long walk from the village which was totally unsuitable. I finally managed to speak to someone who promised to look and find another. They did not respond to me until the next day, leaving us unsure about our accommodation in Rhodes. This absolutely ruined our last night of our holiday in Symi!!!
We were contacted the next day and was advised that we had been placed in another hotel which was close to the centre of the village but again it wasn't but by now I was too incensed to argue as I just wanted to enjoy the rest of my holiday!
Will I book with alpha rooms again? Probably not - a more nervous and less independent traveller would have been traumatised by the incident
