Our experience started at the local shop trying to see whether we should do this project ourselves or pay more and let you do it. We took the plunge and let them do it.
The salesman had been there years and was some senior person in the company....He said I will monitor this all the way to the end. Wanted to take photos etc...Ok we will see.
Never ever saw or heard again. So many companies are good at sales but aftersales become a real issue.
The process started in April and were not fully complete until October. 6 months for a bathroom refit !!!!!
The designer had been, the surveyor had been, we were all set.
We started with not all the items delievered, but it happens so we chased them, particularly the skip needed on day one.
The fitter said he did not have removal of tiles on his list, further phone calls.
Then said we have a gravity tank water system so the tank is not big enough to use another shower as well as the one we have in the en-suite, it should be electric....not a good start. So we cannot use them together.
We then had the electrician turn up to say that the Electric board is not adequate and would need replacing for the spots we had chosen or use what we already had. Not what we had chosen so not happy with the repsonse and not happy to pay the £400 required to rectify. We wanted what we had chosen with the designer. So further stress and phone calls.
The wrong toilet had been delivered so we needed a new one, yes, you guessed it, it would not match the sink, already in place so had to chose next best fit.
We also had some scratched tiles on the floor so these would need replacing.
The original fitter could not fit the toilet, replace the tiles and finish the trim due to other commitments. So a stand in came and finished some of the trim, replace the tiles and fit toilet. He used white trim as it was on the original order but the original fitter had used ivory as white would not look right. He was right of course. He also used the wrong grout as this was also ivory as amended by the original fitter. (Ivory was just a better look than basic white)
I have no idea how he could not notice it was not the same clolour (perhaps he was miffed because he thought it was a half day job not a full day).
The orginal fitter had to return to amend this and could not believe what he had done.
The plus side is the project manager Mark and the orginal fitter Ian were absoultely without blame they did all they could to rectify the issues.
**The dsigner dreams the ideas but the surveyor should know if the electrics are up to scratch and if the system can accomodate the type of shower and also what the fitter will need to remove. Basics !
