After quite a lot of research I decided to buy my new camera from SLRHut even though they are based in New York and I am in rural Hampshire UK. The order went through easily and I received a call confirming that the order was being processed and that despite what I may have heard the price I was paying was the total -no extra tax or duty; I sort of knew that but the confirmation was nice. The next contact I had was tell me that the camera I had ordered was no longer available and that I could have an upgrade to the latest model. As this was significantly more expensive (even at SLRHut prices) I expected to be asked for more money but not so: "It was our screw-up so the upgrade is at no extra cost to you" I was told "it will be despatched today." Customer service like that is hard to fault.
I then spent an interesting few days watching the DHL tracking page as my camera went from New York to Cincinnati, back to New York then on to Heathrow via Leipzig. After Heathrow I watched the package travel to Reading where it spent the weekend before coming to me today.
