Just done the speedcheck on broadbandchoices.co.uk, and it tells me what I'm getting (roughly 10Mbps) plus, purportedly, what I'd get from other ISPs at the same address. What I want to know is how are those other-ISP results obtained, with any degree of accuracy? From others who've done the test in my locality? Or from the ISP's own (independently certified?) estimates of what they can provide at my postcode? Confusingly, there were at least five speed results shown for the same ISP (mine, O2) in the results page. Is that because O2 subscribers at my postcode have used broadbandchoices.co.uk's speedchecker recently (when?) and achieved those results? It's all very opaque! I generally find the site helpful, but not as helpful as following all the instructions on Martin Lewis's moneysavingexpert site!
