I sent a Bosch Jigsaw to Power Tool Spares as the motor had gone and it was well out of its warranty. they said they could replace the motor and brushes and did so. Upon receiving the item back about (3 weeks after I posted it to them) - it did not work, at this point it had cost me £70 so far. I sent it back to them at my cost (another £9.50) - they then returned it after adjusting the brushes. It worked on and off but was never 100% perfect - I informed Matthew Carr of its malfunctions the following week.
4 months later it completely stopped working.
I phoned up Power tool Spares asking if they would pay the delivery costs so they could fix it again - unfortunately Matthew refused to carry this cost.
I dont think the £80 I spent on a broken machine that only lasted 4 months is in any way good value for money, if they were a decent company they really should make sure a fixed machine lasts longer than 4 months!! and if it breaks within this time- offer to fix it at their cost - either that, or make the customer fully aware that the repaired item, even with a new motor fitted, may not function properly or last any longer than 2 months.
It is unfortunate as the company ideology is great - get your broken powertools repaired rather than throwing them in the bin, But after dealing with Power tool spares - my advice would be, look for someone more competent who will give a better guarantee - or cut your costs and buy a new tool.
I certainly would not recommend this company - as I have just wasted £80!!
