We're a business using myhermes and I just want to clarify some of the points made in previous reviews.
Firstly, all of the couriers do not work directly for myhermes, they are self employed and have to sign a contract which says they will deliver however many parcels per week. They get paid 75p per delivered parcel and legally they have to attempt delivery three times. (Thought not all remember this despite it being in their contract)
Most of the couriers are quite helpful/cheerful as they are self employed usually with kids working around the school run, though you get the odd one who hates his job and can't be bothered like with anything.
That is the couriers. The company themselves has a lot of holes in their system and the way they handle things. Firstly as a customer you have no rights - that is the customer receiving the parcel, they will flat our refuse to speak to you. If you call the answer will always be no no, please go away.
Secondly if you are the sender and a parcel doesn't turn up on time, their process is very basic. They first call the courier to see if they 'remember' the parcel. I know, right? If that doesn't happen, there are a lot of 'ooh' and 'ahhs' and 'hmm I'm not sure'. If you know what you are doing, like a child, you have to then instruct them to contact the local depo. For us it is Bradford, which they then attempt to go back to the courier to get the number (I know, how very silly that they don't have the numbers of depos) unless you have the number yourself and can pass it on to them.
The service is fine if you are prepared to wait 10-15 minutes on the phone to get through, then do their job for them when you do get through. Most of the customer service agents don't have a clue so don't expect them to, they really have no idea what they are doing, like a trainee without the training.
The online system works fine, just make sure you book the previous day before 10.30pm and they will arrive if there isn't a problem with the courier. The tracking system does not work fine - and tends to show the wrong thing. Their only saving grace is they are cheap, but you can see why. I hope this somehow provides some instruction on myhermes.
