I work for a company that recives and sends hundreds of small packets each weeks, we have had problems in the past when goods are been sent to us by City Link, we would never use them to send our parcels, due to the problems we have had receiving deliveries through City Link.
As an example of how bad this company are at delivery: We placed a n order for stationary 14.10.12, we contacted the sender 17.10.12 they informed us parcel was send out with city link and forwarded the tracking details we cringed and checked the tracking info on City Links Site and as stated parcel was sent straight out but had a message stating "The driver was not able to deliver these goods as the address details are incorrect/incomplete".
We have had this previously from this company along with the no one was at the address excuses (despite us having a delivery number on the entrance to our building and CCTV which clearly shows no City Link!)
So we contacted the sender stating we though it may be city link when we had a failed delivery, we confirmed address, send full step by step directions and even provided a direct mbl number should the driver get lost!
We also provided the same information ourselves to City Link which included we are a large detached 400 square meter building visible from main road which any sat nav will take you within viewing distance!
We received a confirmation from seller they also provided this information to City Link.
Surprise Surprise on 19.10.12 at 0.00 tracking details showed delivery failed for guess what "The driver was not able to deliver these goods as the address details are incorrect/incomplete" and quite strangely if they had of found us we aren't open at that time! office hours only if your reading this City Link!
later that day at 14.11 the tracking info again states "The driver was not able to deliver these goods as the address details are incorrect/incomplete. Which makes no sense as they had been send a step by step instruction on how to find us by ourselves and by the sender.
Moving forward we made a complaint as did the sender, stating we do not know how they cannot find us as it is a 400 square meter building within viewing distance of a main road which if they used a sat nav and entered the postcode would bring them directly to the main road which leads straight to our car park!
they response on 22.10.12 was "I have noted your comments and unfortunately as you are aware, the driver was unable to locate your premises. I have arranged for your delivery to take place tomorrow and I have provided your mobile number to the driver so if there are any issues he can give you a call"
Guess what? yes you guessed correctly City Link Failed to deliver the next day, they tracking info on 23rd originally send out for delivery but now has been changed to "These goods are in our network" (very convenient, let's just edit history!).
Then on 24.10.12 it states "good have been returned to sender", then later that day We loos track as it states "The delivery instructions have been changed and a new job number has been allocated".
We have given up with getting this delivery, all I can say is beware City Link are a JOKE. We will be asking our suppliers who they use for delivery in future and if they use City Link they will lose our business unless they can send by an alternative delivery company.
