I am one of many who fit the demographic of thirty-something-used-to-DJ-now-has-kids, yet I am still passionate about music. Perhaps even more so, I just don't have the time to dedicate to trawling record shops and hear other DJs in clubs. Moreover since the demise of Straight no Chaser magazine, the passion for 'musical learning' took a serious blow as that was my bible. Juno has since enabled me to regain the passion for buying (and playing) new music by making the discovery and purchase process on-line, intimate and available any time. The DJ charts enable me to track personal tastes, as well as follow Juno's computer generated recommendations. It's not like the old days, but neither is life. Still - thanks to Juno - our club night Afrospot at Passing Clouds has gone from strength to strength, and I'm still breaking new music to multicultural audiences in 2012. You can't put a price on something that's priceless, and that's what breaking new music means to me. Always has, always will
