Had a delivery today from DPD UK that I had ordered on Amazon. All I can say is Wow!! I received the usual confirmation email and tracking number that most delivery companies provide. I checked on their website and I must say the tracking timeline was nice and easily explained, with six status stages (Collection, At Sortation Facility, In Transit, At Delivery Depot, Out for Delivery, Delivered). So it was easy to see at what stage the delivery was, rather than having to translate the code of a companies system.
Then in addition, I received an email from DPD saying that they had a parcel and it was due to be delivered today. If that was not convenient, there was an option to change the delivery date and it also gave a link to track the parcel. At this stage, it mentioned "your one hour delivery timeslot". This I was amazed at. I have always wondered why delivery companies can't give you a better indication of delivery time on the day. Surely they know on the day where they will be roughly speaking, rather than just saying the "sometime during the day between xam and xpm, but we cant tell you when" line...
Then this morning, I received another email from DPD informing me of the hour delivery window and sure enough it was delivered in the middle of that window. I was then able to get on and plan my day and not waste a day.
So well done DPD. You have used technology and provided the service we require. The delivery driver was also very pleasant. So from my experience I can highly recommend them and hope my next delivery will be from DPD UK.
