What no return policy?

We wanted a wood burner. Saw one that we liked in machine mart. Bought it on a credit card. Had a survey done. Found out that any wood burner couldn't be installed without major work going on. Took it back for a refund. Told that as it was UNWANTED and not faulty they would only give me a credit note. Once I found someone to buy the credit note from me I took it back. Not happy as it was only 10 days between buying the burner and taking it back and it was still boxed up and unopened.
