We were buying a first piano for our daughter who was just starting piano. And we knew nothing about the instrument apart from what we had been told by her teacher. UK Pianos were v helpful when we went to the shop and showed us a few options in our price range. Our daughter, K was able to sit at them and see how they felt until we found the right one for her.
Also, what was great was that we could rent-then-buy so we started renting the piano and then a few months later (a max of 6 I think) we then paid the difference between what we had paid and the full sales price and we owned it. But this took away the issue that K might not have enjoyed the lessons enough to want to carry on learning. So a v useful hedge.
