avoid like the plague

Last march I ordered over £1000 of bedroom furniture and arranged for it all to be delivered a few days after I had my old furniture collected. I received part of the furniture but no bed. I re-arranged a delivery date for the bed, received a call to confirm delivery, then a further call to cancel After this happened several times and Dreams head office seemed unable to sort out the problem I cancelled the remainder of the order. I went in to the store and paid in full for the furniture I had received. This was last June. A few weeks ago I received a call from Dreams asking if I'd received the furniture - I explained I'd cancelled it . I have just received another call saying I owe £197 and that they have no record of my having been into the store to pay for the furniture [I actually paid over £600]. They are now threatening to use a debt collection agency even though they were not able to explain what the outstanding money was for. The staff in the store have excellent customer service skills and appear to offer good deals but don't be fooled, the organisation lets them down. I eventually went to a local family business and got excellent service - I wish I had done that in the first place.
