Have bought the 17.3" Skyfire II, with an i7 2.4Ghz, GTX670, 8Gb ram and 500Gb HD. I chose this spec to give me a good level of performance for under £1000. Been impressed by service received from my initial order to receiving the Laptop. The whole process was easy to track online and the final delivery was made on the day the time stated. The unit itself looks good and is of a good build standard. I was already familiar with Skyfire II chassis as a friend has the same chassis on his MSI laptop. The main part of the chassis is fairly rigid but the screen and lid do have some flex. I was willing to accept this as my laptop will only have light home use with a very occasional trip out.
The laptop runs silky smooth and is a pleasure to use, however I thought I'd try Windows 8 (been running with 7 on my desktop) and am regretting that now. I had to re-install windows 8 twice to get it working reasonably well but have had a succession of battle with the metro apps and the windows store concerning internet connections. From the desk top the connection is fine but the metro apps often state that there is no internet connection when there plainly is. Have been trawling the online solutions and I'm pretty sure these problems are down to windows 8. We live and learn.
However, Ive managed to get the operating system fairly stable and have been very happy with the laptop performance, especially the gaming capabilities.....lots of full res, high quality graphic action. Sweet.
