I ordered a Taylor left-handed 12-string acoustic, ordering via Andertons' website in mid-July this year.
I'd previously purchased another guitar from Andertons a year or two back and had no problems in receiving it, so was confident there should be no worries in ordering again.
The guitar was listed as not being in stock (fine) and normally being available within one to two weeks (again, fine). I paid a £600 deposit with the rest to be paid on finance and confirmed the order.
Soon after, I received an email from Andertons stating my guitar would arrive with them in about eight weeks. This was a disappointment as it was around six weeks later than the website stated, but with not a lot I could do, I accepted the stated wait with good grace.
Unfortunately, the guitar did not arrive with Andertons in about eight weeks. It arrived with them in about 12 weeks (the second week in October). I have to admit I am very disappointed to have waited so long on the basis of an expected two weeks wait.
After the initial email stating about eight weeks; the progress of my guitar's arrival (other than the final despatch email) was always initiated by me via emailing Andertons. It would have been nice to have received an unprompted communication from them informing me what was happening, but this was not to be. In fairness, my emails were always quickly and politely responded to, but that really isn't the point.
I know Andertons sell some pretty expensive guitars, so perhaps £1500 is relatively small fry to them to pay for one, but to me, £1500 is a hell of a lot a money and a very special purchase to make. I am sorry to say I didn't feel remotely special as one of their customers during the wait for my guitar to be sent to me.
Finally, I received a despatch email from Andertons. They used City Link as couriers. On the day of delivery I got back home to find a City Link card posted through the door. The card was not properly completed, with no indication if the guitar had been left with a neighbour or had been returned to their depot for re-delivery or collection.
I was livid and after much automated menu pressing via City Link's 'customer service' number was told by an off-hand advisor that they were sorry the driver hadn't filled out the card, but I could collect the guitar from their depot that evening. I told her not to worry, it was only a £1500 guitar, so not knowing where it was (other than not with me) when I got home was no problem!!
Have to say, I am delighted with the guitar, but feel that is more Taylor's input rather than anything Andertons did as part of the process.
I have made a further small order for a capo and a plectrum to make use of reward type points given to me as part of my guitar purchase, but other than that, will not be using Andertons again.
In More Than's pocket.
Tried for nearly eighteen months to get £50 cashback for taking out buildings and contents insurance with More Than, but all to no avail.
Sporadic and generally unhelpful messages from Top Cashback customer services. Even submitted the reference number More Than gave us directly which they said should trigger the £50 payment and still nothing from Top Cashback.
In our experience, Top Cashback was a complete and utter waste of time. No telephone customer services and an office in Uttoxeter where there is no on-site help for members wanting to visit to discuss a claim.
Not the best time of the year to find out your wife needs four new tyres.
With local dealers quoting around £250 for budget tyres, and having to order them in, I was starting to get rather stressed until I discovered the Black Circles website.
The site, I thought, was superbly easy to navigate (many tyres sites are not) and prices extremely competitive.
What I liked the best is that by ordering the tyres from Black Circles removed all the hassle of having to ring tyre dealers chasing stock for what seems to be an unusual tyre size (Peugeot 3008). Once I had found said tyres and make I wanted, I just had to choose the most conveniently located dealer from their extensive list of dealer agents, fitting time and date, pay and Black Circles did the rest.
Everything was confirmed by email and on said time and date, we got the tyres fitted.
We even got the option of a buy now pay over 12 months interest free credit option which we took as the best way to pay for the tyres. A 10% deposit is needed, with the rest paid back over said 12 months.
On my experience of Black Circles I would fully recommend their service to others.
