In February I ordered a bike from Evans website for delivery to a store in Victoria/London for collection. After several weeks it didn't turn up even though it said it was in stock on the website. When I attempted to cancel they first offered my a different bike which was of slightly higher retail price but worse spec. When I declined that offer the person in their call centre told me the shop had to give me the refund and the person I contacted in the shop told me the call centre had to give me the refund.
To make it worse, after several letters ultimately threatening to take them to small claims court they then couldn't cancel the order at the shop without my full card details which implies they pass card payment details to the shop manually rather than electronically which no doubt means me card details were exposed to all and sundry along the way.
I strongly recommend not to touch Evans website with a barge pole for any high value purchases.
Order gloves from Cyclestore which were out of stock even though they were in stock on the website but they let me know what alternative ones were available almost immediately so I could change or cancel the order. Bought other stuff from Cyclestore with no problem so can't complain too much about a one of mistake.
