My wife wanted a set of Bose QuietComfort 3 headphones before we went away on a BA flight, where the economy headphones are terrible. I knew the full retail price in John Lewis and similar high street stores was £299.00. I work at Gatwick so checked the price in Dixons Duty Free in the departure lounge .... £286.00. Expected that to be the cheapest until I checked on the net and found Weybridge Audio where they were only £269.00 with no additional charge for P & P. I was delighted. Ordered them on 3 December and they arrived the next day. Couldn't have been better !!!!
Got to Denver fine and knew where to find the courtesy buses to the car lots about a mile away. The dollar agent was very friendly and told me he had a real nice Subaru that I would like (I had a prepaid voucher for a Grand Cherokee or similar) only after 20 minutes of his typing endless things into the computer did he ask me to swipe my card and authorise it. I expected it to be "held" and to be charged about $50 for the toll fees on E470 but NOT for the $289 charged. I refused to sign and eventually he admitted he had charged me extra for an upgrade. I absolutely refused to pay more and told him to produce a Grand Cherokee or similar. After a couple of minutes he called the outside guy and told him to show me to a Chevrolet NOT the Subaru because he won't pay for it. The Chevrolet was fine but it's a good job I was awake enough after a 9 hour flight from London to spot the attempted scam or i'd be $250 worse off.
