I was happy with the cost and range of products on offer: some prices are distinctly lower than typical Internet rates.
Despite the delivery blurb saying: 'In most cases the delivery service on orders received prior to 12:00 noon for delivery to addresses in Mainland UK is that the goods will be delivered within 2-3 working days (i.e. If you place your order before 12:00 noon on Monday your goods will be delivered by Thursday). In a large percentage of cases this will actually be much quicker, with many items being delivered on a next day service.' In my case the order was not dispatched until 3 days after ordering, and no attempt was made to contact me to inform me of this minor delay, but it did arrive within 24 hours of being dispatched. They use a reliable courier company (which is more than can be said of some of the big players like Amazon and Tescos) with good tracking information.
I would happily use Power Tools Direct again.
Once again I had a sense of foreboding when an order I placed with Tescos for delivery to my local store, and the the order confirmation came back with HDNxxxxxxx tracking numbers; a painful memory of previous 'bad old days' when Yodel were the Home Delivery Network. (Surely they never re-branded in an attempt to walk away from a horrendous reputation??!! )
Anyway, this time the tracking showed one parcel as being collected 19 days before I ordered it!! and the other 2 showed as being delivered this morning. So off I trot to my local store to be informed that the parcels have not arrived, despite the parcels allegedly being signed for. I returned home for an online chat with Yodel but only gets as far as; 'speak to your suppliers, we will only find out what has happened when they contact us...'. What fabulous customer service!!
I contact Tescos who seem to think the best way forward is simply to re-send the items, but this time to my home address. From one point of view I shouldn't complain as I might get my items, albeit a day late, but surely the real point is that as long as large organisations like Tescos let Yodel get away with shoddy service, things will never improve.
I did ask the CS lady at Tescos why they use Yodel, when they have such a dire reputation. She replied, "They get it right 90% of the time". I sought clarification that Tescos really are content with a 90% success rate for home deliveries, and she responded with, "For a large company like Tescos with so many deliveries, then yes".
I rest my case, mylud.
BTW, it is a pity TrustPilot don't allow zero stars, as 1 star gives Yodel an undeserved indication of some degree of competence.
The type of cable I needed was not available on many sites but Kenable had it at a good price. It arrived the day after I order it.
