Just plain unhelpful

People seem to confuse the new DPD texting service as a sign of genuine good faith - it's there because it saves them money plain and simple - no need to go to empty houses and no need to argue about the fact that they never used to leave calling cards and quite clearly regularly didn't bother trying to deliver things.

I had a delivery due from them and received a text offering dates - I had been told it was going out on a weekend so was a little miffed to be offered Monday. I cancelled that as I wasn't going to be in but then contacted the company sending the parcel to ask for the weekend. They apologised and upgraded it to Saturday and confirmed that the DPD system registered this. I received a text telling me I was going to get the parcel on a Tuesday but was assured by the company I was dealing with that this was an automated service and was wrong.

I contacted DPD who told me that it was going out on Tuesday and they had no record of a Saturday request (despite it clearly showing on the online tracking). They made no changes and said that it would correct when the parcel was scanned in. On the saturday morning the parcel was still saying Tuesday delivery but on a Saturday service and a call to customer service yielded an assurance that it should go out on Saturday but they couldn't get through to the depot.

When i contacted the depot directly I was told that it would go out on the Tuesday and that is what their system showed. Customer Service reps were civil throughout but at no point did any of them actually deliver any service or attempt to rectify the problems identified. On Tuesday my parcel will arrive (I hope). No doubt I'll get a delivery window (it's be around 13:00-14:00 as that's when their driver always comes to this area) and he'll wake me up as I'm between night shifts but at least I'll be warned with 3 hours notice when he's going to wake me - now that's a service.

I can assure you that our Predict service has a very high success rate, however I appreciate that is no consolation to you.

Supplier issues compounded by a series of oversights

We ordered jackets and trousers from Kit King. Their prices are very competitive and they were prompt about getting in touch and sorting the order. Unfortunately Adidas kit appears to be in short supply which heavily delayed the order but it was only when asked that they offered to split the non-Adidas kit and send it on.

When the Adidas items were finally in stock I had to badger them to ensure a delivery deadline was met and twice errors were made leading to a delay in items being sent out and ultimately the deadline being missed.

Would I use them again? If the price was right then yes but would suggest keeping in regular touch to ensure they keep on top of things.
