Looking to buy a custom laptop instead of paying £1000 for an entry level Macbook that would leave me unable to play games left me trawling the web and I came across PC Specialist.
I recall a friend using them before for a custom PC and not being happy with the overall product. Although I couldn't work out if this was him down to him being serious, or just completely computer illiterate. So I viewed the PCS website and liked that I could customize my laptop and be updated instantly with the costs that it would involve.
After ordering the laptop, I was told my credit card would incur a extra percentage charge which would have been helpful to know before ordering, as I found a discount code but it would only let me enter it once and thus that was lost.
Once my order was placed I received regular updates on my laptops progress, through from the gathering stock phase, to the building, testing, quality control and dispatch phases. All in all the process took around 10 days from start to finish which I was quite happy with as a lot of other users were being told a month upwards in build time.
The only major gripe I have is that I spent extra on a Bluray reader for my laptop and once I got the laptop home the software included was outdated and they wanted me to pay for the newest one that would work with Windows 8. I felt PC Specialist should have been aware of this although I managed to find a freeware programme to get around it (VLC Media Player)
Any other issues I had were down to the design of the laptop itself which comes from an outside manufacturer. So all in all I felt PC Specialist have done a top notch job.
