Where's my parcel?

I ordered an item of jewellery from Joshua James on 10th December for my daughter's Christmas present and paid for next day delivery. My heart sank when the confirmation came through saying the parcel was being despatched using DPD, having had disappointing experiences with them in the past.
It started well with an email saying the parcel was out for delivery - except that the delivery time (between 11.55 and 12.55) was the one hour in the day that no-one could be there to sign for it.
I took the offered option of having the parcel left with a neighbour, so that we didn't have to go through the difficulties of having to rearrange delivery, and received a confirmation email and text by return - so far so good. I should have known better as, unfortunately but predictably, the driver has ignored this request and taken the parcel away... why do DPD offer this service if the driver is going to ignore it???
To cap it all I then went through the process of contacting DPD to try to rearrange delivery to a different address. As ever it is automated and after having to select several different options got right to the end only to be told that I have to contact the sender in order to give a different delivery address. If they can't change the delivery address themselves why don't they say so in the preamble at the beginning of a call?
I then emailed Joshua James who kindly sent the revised delivery address to DPD and they emailed back to say that the parcel would be delivered the next day - today. I decided to check the tracking this afternoon to see how things were progressing – I suppose I should have guessed it was not going to go well. According to the old tracking number the parcel is being held at the depot – why? According to the new tracking details the shipment details have been received and they are awaiting receipt of the parcel – arrrghhh! Come on DPD, get a grip the parcel is there you just have to do a bit of joined up thinking!!
I had subsequently placed an order with another company which is also being despatched via DPD and is due to arrive at my office address between 17.12 and 18.12 pm this evening. Thankfully there will be someone here to sign for the delivery even though I won’t be. I hope this will be a less frustrating experience than this one but I am not holding my breath.
Please, please DPD I very much want this parcel, preferably in time for Christmas.
