If you have had the misfortune of having had to deal with this company I can suggest one thing. In future before you purchase anything online please contact the company that you are buying from to find out who they use to deliver. If it is dpd then refuse to buy.
After an example of the same awful service that most on this thread have been subjected to (apart from the dpd employees trying to push dpd's average rating up. nice one on the 5 star ratings for making it so obvious douchebags) we were told by the retailer that it would not resend our package using royal mail because dpd's tracking service is so good. May I add I think it is easier for a tracking service to be effective if the parcel doesn't apparently go anywhere. The reason that this retailer uses this farce of a company is to keep costs down. dpd make their money on getting people to upgrade their service but from what i have seen it sometimes then doesn't even follow through.
consumer power is the way forward. I would urge anybody to find out who is the courier before they purchase and to refuse to buy if they are aware that this company is the courier. It may mean an extra couple of quid but I took the day off work which cost me a bit more. My girlfriend also waited in for this parcel twice and we were both then left with the implied blame that they attempted to deliver but no one was home.
